A Metamorfose - Franz Kafka, João Barrento given to me by mom

My mom had actually bought this for me ages ago, but I’d never read it until now. It’s a very short book, and very, very weird.
It tells the story of Gregor Samsa, a travelling salesman who one day wakes up as a giant bug. Being the sole provider for his family, their life gets turned around in ways they’d never imagine.
A friend of mine read this book around the same time I did, and the way she talked about about it sums the whole thing up pretty nicely: “It’s strange. I understand it’s a metaphor, I just don’t understand how.” You know, early 20th century sci-fi really is the best, of course.
Read from May 17th to May 18th, 2010.
